As the Executive Chairman and Founder of Gaia Plas Bhd (GPB), Norsharina Mohd Shahar has 29 years of experience in the waste management and manufacturing industry.
Starting out her career in the banking industry, Norsharina decided to venture into scrap recycling and waste management before establishing GPB in December 2006 as a plastic container manufacturer.
As a manufacturing company producing over 12 million units annually, GPB is mindful of its impact on global warming. In 2020, GPB invented a biohybrid polymer resin named eJau. GPB is actively searching for partners to commercialize biohybrid polymer resin and move towards biodegradable polymer resin. GPB has the first formulation of utilizing palm oil by-products for the polymer resin.
Now, the company is focused on building a one-stop centre for product packaging solutions and providing training in handling machines. GPB has also recently ventured into the 3D printing industry by creating a Polylactic acid (PLA) 3D filament. The 3D filament is a thermoplastic feedstock for fused deposition modelling 3D printers. GPB aims to emphasize sustainable production in the circular economy.
