JAKARTA, 24 November 2022. EY Indonesia announced the winners of EY Entrepreneur Of The Year™ (EOY) 2022 Indonesia at the Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, 23 November 2022 at The Langham, Jakarta.
Otto Toto Sugiri, CEO of PT DCI Indonesia Tbk (DCII), was chosen as 2022 EY Indonesia Entrepreneur Of The Year. He will represent Indonesia at the EY World Entrepreneur Of The Year™ awards event in June 2023 at Monte Carlo, Monaco and vie once more for the global entrepreneurship award alongside other EOY national winners from 60 countries.
The EY EOY is a prestigious program that recognizes the unstoppable entrepreneurs who continue to advance business success to the next level through product and service breakthroughs, while also providing opportunities that benefit the nation's economy and communities.
The Entrepreneur Of The Year award was presented to the country winner by the Vice Minister of Finance, Suahasil Nazara, accompanied by Peter Surja, Country Managing Partner of EY Indonesia. In addition to the country winner, EY announced two category award winners, namely, Anderson Sumarli, Co-Founder & CEO of Ajaib Group for Young Entrepreneur Award and Farell Sutantio, CEO of PT Cisarua Mountain Dairy Tbk (Cimory Group) for Transformational Entrepreneur Award.
In his speech, the Honorable Vice Minister of Finance Suahasil Nazara said,
“It is very encouraging to see that EY is bringing back the Entrepreneur Of The Year program after two years of absence, that is also a good indicator that we are nearing the end of the pandemic. Although the global economic environment is currently a cause of concern, I am confident that our economy is still expected to grow, and this is where entrepreneurs are playing a critical role in helping our recovery efforts.”
This year’s award recipients were determined by the EOY Independent Panel of Judges, namely, Dr. Ancella A. Hermawan, MBA, CA, ACMA, CGMA – Assistant Professor at the Department of Accounting, Faculty of Economics & Business, University of Indonesia, William Tanuwijaya – Founder and CEO of PT Tokopedia, Vera Eve Lim – Managing Director and Chief Financial Officer, PT Bank Central Asia Tbk, Risa E. Rustam – Director of Finance and Human Resources, PT Bursa Efek Indonesia, and Harun Hajadi – Managing Director, PT Ciputra Development Tbk.
With the theme “The Unstoppables: Entrepreneurs Who Reframe Our World and Win in This Challenging Era”, EY is delighted to continue its commitment to support entrepreneurship in Indonesia after taking two years off due to the COVID-19 pandemic. During the event, Peter Surja affirmed that it is EOY’s essence to support, connect, and enable exceptional entrepreneurs to realize their trailblazing ideas.
Peter Surja further stated in his remarks:
