Effective 12 December 2022, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) authorities began issuing electronic Residency Visas to individuals who apply to obtain or renew their work or residence authorization, in lieu of stickers stamped on their passports. UAE residents must now present only their (physical) Emirates ID cards when entering or departing from the UAE and are no longer required to present their Residency Visas.

A Tax Alert prepared by EY's People Advisory Services group, and attached below, provides additional details.
