Slovenia announces new regulations regarding Single Permits and residence permits

In late May 2023, the Slovenian authorities released further details regarding recent amendments to the Foreigners Act, which impact holders of Single Permits and residence permits. The amendments introduced several changes including (i) individuals who apply to obtain an initial Single Permit or residence permit are no longer required to wait to receive a notification from the immigration authorities prior to submitting their fingerprints to a Slovenian embassy or consulate; (ii) single Permit holders are no longer required to obtain permission from both the employment and immigration authorities prior to changing their job or employer in Slovenia; (iii) single Permit and residence permit holders are no longer required to present proof of subsistence (e.g., bank statements) to the immigration authorities every six months.
