Poland extends authorized period of stay for Ukrainian nationals

On 12 June 2023, a new law was published, which extended the authorized period of stay in Poland for Ukrainian nationals who hold temporary protection status issued by Poland or a qualifying document. The new law, which goes into effect on 27 June 2023, will automatically extend the period of permitted stay in Poland until 4 March 2024 for Ukrainian nationals who (i) hold temporary protection status issued by Poland, which was previously set to expire on 24 August 2023; (ii) hold Polish permits, visas or other authorization documents (e.g., national visas, temporary residence permits, residence cards, Schengen Visas issued by Poland) with an expiry date between 24 February 2022 and 4 March 2024; and (iii) hold documents issued by other EU or Schengen Member States (e.g., residence permits, Schengen Visas) with an expiry date between 24 February 2022 and 4 March 2024.
