In an era of booming new productivity, the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year (EOY) 2024 program was announced today, where 10 outstanding entrepreneurs from the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong/Macau are recognized. This year's program is themed "Elevating excellence for a new innovation era", discovering and commending entrepreneurs who light the way for industrial transformation with technological innovation and implementing sustainable development as an epitome on the journey of new quality productivity.

A new wave of sci-tech and industrial transformation is now in full swing. "New quality productivity" has been listed as the first of the ten major missions in the 2024 National People's Congress Government Work Report, highlighting its core position in driving Chinese modernization. Faced with globalization and the competition it brings, the Chinese entrepreneurial scene proactively acclimates and breaks through with innovative thinking, forging ahead on the path of high-end, intelligent and green transformation.

Jack Chan, EY China Chairman and EY Greater China Regional Managing Partner, says: “As globalization evolves, entrepreneurs play a vital role. They are not only leaders in industrial change, but also creators of the value of the times. EY firmly believes that the entrepreneurial spirit has always been the lifeblood of economic prosperity, the EOY awards is dedicated to the celebration of such a group of entrepreneurs whose courage are shown through innovation and pursuit of excellence. We look forward to leveraging the new quality productivity for the wisdom and prowess of our entrepreneurs, to come together with integrity and innovation for the fortitude of China's modernization.”

With new quality productivity as the new driver compelling economic growth, the critical juncture of economic transformation has posed new requisites for Chinese entrepreneurship. High-quality development not only focuses on economic benefits, but also on the realization of ecological benefits, social value and technological synergy. Entrepreneurship calls for a long-term vision and finds new momentum for development amid uncertainty through technological breakthroughs and green transformation.

Meanwhile, the nation continues to ramp up the favorable policies, vigorously supports the development of the civil-operated economy, and provides greater legal safeguard for entrepreneurs to innovate and create for their businesses. Entrepreneurs are more enthusiastic about technological innovation and industrial upgrading, exemplifying both the responsibilities and obligations of entrepreneurs in the new era with a spirit of resilience, and showing vigorous vitality in the civil-operated economy.

Michael Bi, EY Entrepreneur Of The Year 2024 Program Co-chairman and Managing Partner of EY Greater China Markets, says: “The EOY program is always committed to identifying and promoting entrepreneurship in the new era, it is not only a regard of personal achievements of the entrepreneurs, but also an important platform to promote all sectors of society to recognize entrepreneurship from a strategic perspective. With an innovative spirit nurtured by the exceptional traditional culture, the award winners have played a key role in fostering the country's high-quality development and institutional opening up, continued to inject a strong impetus into the prosperity and development of the economy and society. They have become an important force in national progress and national revival. ”

As a world-renowned business award which has grown in over 79 countries and regions, the EOY program adopts a single global standard to assess candidates in four dimensions, including entrepreneurial spirit, growth, purpose and impact. This year’s winners come from significant fields such as biotechnology, healthcare, AI, precision manufacturing, new energy and modern services, demonstrating China’s strong momentum of developing new quality productive forces.

William Huang, EY Entrepreneur Of The Year 2024 Program Co-Chairman and Managing Partner of EY China South, says: “For 19 years, the EOY program has witnessed the development and legacy of entrepreneurship. As the driver and forefront of China’s economic reform and opening up, Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) provides a unique environment and stage for the cultivation of the entrepreneurial spirit. Entrepreneurs in the GBA are well-equipped with an international vision and the capability to innovate and be bold. Through the EOY program and its platform, we hope to encourage the collaborative efforts and its reverberation in the GBA, and to inject the catalyst generated in the GBA into the national development of new quality productive forces.”

After rigorous assessments by the independent judging panel, the Chinese mainland winner and Hong Kong/Macau winner, who will vie for the title of EY World Entrepreneur Of The Year 2025, will be unveiled during the awards gala.
