About the Awards

Established in 1986, the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year™ program has grown in 79 countries and regions, with the program presented to over thirty thousand of the most successful and innovative entrepreneurs around the world. The program, launched in 2006 in the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong and Macau, China, is recognized for honoring entrepreneurs in the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong and Macau who achieve success by combining ability with opportunity. In particular, the Awards recognizes the benefits that entrepreneurs and their entrepreneurial spirit bring to the Chinese economy by creating employment opportunities and enhancing the competitiveness of Chinese enterprises.

What makes the EOY program special?

Unlike other business awards which take place at a local or national level, EOY Award winners from around the world will represent their countries or regions vying for the EY World Entrepreneur of the Year (WEOY) title. With much honor, the EY World Entrepreneur of the Year 2009 title went to Cho Tak Wong of Fuyao Glass Industry Group Co., Ltd., the first Chinese ever awarded such title.

“To receive this award from among a group of such talented entrepreneurs is a great honor,” said Cao, “not only for me, but also for the 10,000 employees of Fuyao, and for China, too.”
