Hoffman Cheong

EY China North Managing Partner

Witnessed China’s economic growth since the early 1990’s. Working experience in Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Shanghai and Beijing. He is also a fan of Chinese history and literature.

Hoffman has over 30 years of professional experience servicing SOEs, POEs and MNCs across various sectors in audits, IPOs and M&A transactions. He holds CPA qualifications in both Hong Kong and Greater China.

Hoffman is among the first batch of HK expatriates working in Greater China. He has stationed in key cities such as Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Shanghai and Beijing.  

Hoffman was the Assurance Leader of EY China North before taking up his existing role as EY China North Managing Partner in 2020. He also carries the following duties with external parties, including Deputy Chief of Professional Ethics Standards Committee at the China Institute of Certified Public Accountants; Deputy Chief of Accounting Industry’s Development Strategy Committee at the Beijing Institute of Certified Public Accountants and a member of the Expert Advisory Committee at Tsinghua University’s State-owned Assets Management Research Institute.

Hoffman strongly believes everyone in the working world shares a common destiny. As EY China North Managing Partner, he advocates a collaborative culture across service lines at EY internally and stakeholders in the business ecosystem externally.

For years, Hoffman spent much effort cultivating relationship and trust with various government bodies and regulators, which is a key component of building a better working world.
