Stijn heads the Tax services for Financial Services in EY Tax Consultants BV, Belgium. Furthermore, Stijn is the EMEIA Tax Payments Leader.

He has more than 20 years of experience serving financial institutions with tax services ranging from corporate income tax to operational taxes (withholding tax). He knows the ins and outs of the tax treatment of all sorts of financial instruments. Beyond the traditional financial services (banks, insurance companies, asset managers), Stijn is a trusted advisor to various players in the payments sector.

He currently lectures at the KULeuven (Brussels Campus) and the Fiscale Hogeschool (FHS).

Having graduated from the University of Leuven (KUL) with a law degree, Stijn holds an LLM in Tax from the London School of Economics (LSE) and obtained his PhD in Law from the University of Leuven (KUL) with a thesis on hybrid financing instruments.

Together with his Belgian FS Tax teams and his EMEIA Tax Payments teams, Stijn is building a better working world step by step, memo by memo, tool by tool, always asking himself the question whether the tax services he provides can be considered both efficient and sustainable at the same time.
