Geert is an Executive director within our Financial Services Audit practice and is based in the Brussels office.
He joined EY in 2010 and has extensive experience with financial audit and analysis in banking, including regulatory reporting (CRR/CRD). Over the past years, he has coordinated audits of large financial institutions under ECB supervision and insurance companies. His focus is on the application of IFRS in the banking industry, especially IAS 32, IAS 39, IFRS 7, IFRS 9 and IFRS 13. Next to this, he is very experienced in treasury centers, derivatives, financial instruments, hedge accounting matters and EMIR. On these topics, he delivers both internal and external trainings.
Geert holds a master’s degree in mathematics from Ghent University. He graduated summa cum laude and also participated in the International Physics Olympiad in Salamanca, Spain in 2005.
