As energy and sustainability are basically front-page news almost every single day, we will start with these topics. The EU Commission is working on the Green Deal, which is the consolidated term for several legislative packages forcing businesses and people to bring sustainability to the forefront. Equally so, the Commission is finally producing a new Energy Directive, after several unlucky attempts.

Our EY team has also greatly invested in a carbon tool that maps out the cost impacts of all these measures on global supply chains (maritime, aviation, and road transport); which proves to be a unique toolkit allowing logistics companies to determine future costs, businesses to do proper budgeting and focus on network design optimizations.

Our Global Trade Update seminar however must also include an overview of the latest updates in relation to:

  1. Trade restrictions and geopolitical tensions.
  2. Customs valuation, amongst others there finally seems to be some movement following the Hamamatsu case.
  3. Origin management and new Free Trade Agreements.
  4. A legislative update, including classification changes.
  5. Trade automation update.

We welcome all guests at 1 pm CET to finish around 5.00 pm CET, followed by a reception.
