Dr. Thomas Markus Zellweger
Professor, Center for Family Business, University of St. Gallen
Thomas Zellweger holds the Chair in Family Business at the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland, where he is also the Director of the Swiss Institute for Small Business and Entrepreneurship and of the Center for Family Business. Thomas completed his PhD at the University of St. Gallen and was a research fellow at Babson College in Massachusetts and a visiting professor at the University of British Columbia. He is a permanent visiting professor at the University of Witten/Herdecke in Germany.
Thomas serves on the editorial boards of several academic journals, and he is an editor with Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice. His research has been published in leading management journals and has received several international awards. His international textbook, Managing the Family Business: Theory and Practice, received the 2018 Best Book of the Year Award from the European Academy of Management.
Thomas is a member of three family business boards and advises family firm owners on governance and strategic questions.
