Šimon Šicko

Šimon Šicko decided to leave his career as an architect and turn his passion for gaming into a business. In 2007, he and a handful of other gaming enthusiasts founded Pixel Federation, quickly growing it into the biggest free-to-play browser and app game developer in Slovakia.

Pixel’s four main titles, including TrainStation and Diggy’s Adventure, are played by over 80 million people across the world, and the company is one of the top 20 Facebook gaming studios in the EMEA region. Pixel is a pioneer of a new wave of technology startups in Bratislava that have been dubbed “The Danube Valley” — Central Europe’s answer to Silicon Valley.

Šimon has differentiated Pixel by emphasizing their credentials as “players to players” game developers. He and his team of more than 200 employees only create games that they would want to play themselves. They rely on their own experience and player feedback when making adjustments to their games.

Šimon now has his sights set on the future, developing games for virtual reality and Steam, a digital distribution platform. Whatever medium Pixel gaming fans want to play in, Šimon and his team are dedicated to providing it.
