Nico Gabriel
Managing Director, Sixt
Nico Gabriel joined Sixt in 2004 as an operation manager in the Franchise Department. He later worked as a business development manager for the Sixt Franchise Partner in Sydney, Australia. Since 2008, Nico has served in various roles within Sixt, such as managing director of a number of subsidiaries and project manager for the company‘s first carsharing initiative, Sixti Car Club.
In 2011, Nico was appointed Managing Director of DriveNow, a joint venture of Sixt and BMW that was founded to offer premium carsharing services. In this position, he was responsible for operations and business development as well as IT. Nico developed DriveNow into a major carsharing player in Europe, with presence in 13 cities in 9 countries, more than 6,500 vehicles and over 1.2 million customers.
With the sale of Sixt’s DriveNow shares to BMW, Nico has returned to Sixt to become the Managing Director for the newly founded SixtX, which will handle new mobility initiatives within Sixt.
