Andersson Family
Owners, Mellby Gård, Sweden
Mellby Gård's objective is to transform companies from “promising” to “leading” by gradually developing their full potential.
Mellby Gård is a Swedish holding organization that was founded by Rune Andersson in 1986, when he acquired the Mellby Gård farm in Sösdala. In the beginning, the group only operated in the agricultural field. It has since developed into a renowned investor in Sweden. Today, Mellby Gård has a presence across four verticals: industry, consumer goods, agriculture and services. In 1995, the group acquired a 50% holding in Älvsbyhus, Sweden’s largest manufacturer of single-family homes, and a 100% holding in Söderberg & Haak, Sweden’s privately-owned importer and retailer of machinery for agriculture and the construction industry. These two organizations are still with the group.
The three cornerstones of the group’s business model, known as the Mellby model, are a long-term view, an active corporate governance and a strong partnership. The group's objective is to transform companies from “promising” to “leading” by gradually developing their full potential. In addition, by being active owners, maintaining a close dialogue with the management of the companies and through shareholder partnership, Mellby Gård is generating opportunities to build value.
