Sérgio Moura and Paulo Sales showed they had the fortitude to overcome obstacles that shaped Baterias Moura's success.
Sérgio Moura and Paulo Sales are childhood friends, who studied together from the fifth grade, until they graduated from the same class in mechanical engineering. Later, they became brothers-in-law and co-chairs of the Moura Group.
Baterias Moura, a part of the Moura Group, was established in 1957 by dynamic husband and wife team, Edson Mororó Moura and Maria da Conceição Moura, with a bold goal: to manufacture and sell quality batteries from a small town in Pernambuco, Brazil.
A desire to overcome challenges has shaped the history of the company. Its governance standards support sustainable growth, planned succession, advanced technology, high-quality products and excellent service in the market.
The second generation, with sons Sérgio, Edson and Pedro Ivo, and son-in-law Paulo Sales, entered the company in 1974, which was a moment of crisis for the company. Under their leadership the company recovered its financial equilibrium and was set for growth within two years.
Today, the group consists of seven factories — six in Brazil and one in Argentina — that supply batteries to the world's largest automakers. It has its own distribution network, Rede Moura (RM), with more than 80 units spread across Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay, and serves more than 50,000 points of sale.
Always looking to the future, Baterias Moura is investing in state-of-the-art lithium battery technology to power the future of mobility in South America.
