The Eram Group is a renowned French fashion manufacturer and retailer. It was established by Albert-René Biotteau in Maine-et-Loire, France, in 1927. Today, the group comprises nine fashion brands in the fields of clothing, footwear and accessories. The almost century-old group is currently managed by the Biotteau family. As of 2021, it employs over 5,500 personnel and marks EUR1 billion in turnover.
The recipient of the EY Family Enterprise Award of Excellence 2023 for France is Xavier Biotteau. Xavier belongs to the third generation of the family and took over the reins of the group in 1998. He and his brother, Luc, succeeded their father, Gérard. Xavier graduated from ESSEC, one of the premier business schools in France, in 1984. Deeply attached to the economic development of his territory and driven by humanist values, Xavier has committed the group to an ambitious transformation process for a more responsible and meaningful expansion and progress, both on the environmental and human levels.
Xavier and Luc are both entrepreneurial, committed to the family spirit and to keeping the group independent. Reinvention and innovation are the hallmarks of the Eram Group from the industrial era to the recent economic, societal, environmental and geopolitical upheavals.
Xavier created the brand Gémo in 1991 — an innovative concept at the time — which offers textile and shoes for the whole family in one store. Today, Gémo is the focal point of the group and represents approximately 70% of the group's overall business.
