EY Sustainability webcast - Plastic packaging taxes

Plastic packaging taxes - taking a step towards reality

In the run-up to the effective date of the introduction of plastic packaging taxes in many European countries, we are excited to host a second webcast on this important topic.

Plastic packaging taxes are increasingly becoming a tangible reality for many European companies. Swiss-headquartered businesses are also feeling the impact, even more when many are also needing to consider the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR).

Some affected organizations already have the knowledge required and are effectively managing the impact of various sustainability taxes. However, the others are still struggling with challenges such as understanding who within the organization should take responsibility for these regimes, and the impact on operating models and cost bases as a result of these and the wider sustainability agenda. The UK is one of the first countries which has already implemented a plastic packaging tax and can provide us with insights to bring these regimes to life. Our guest speaker from EY UK&I will bring practical perspectives, lessons learned, and examples of challenges seen while implementing plastic packaging taxes in the UK.

Please find detailed agenda of the webcast below:

  • Update on European landscape concerning plastic packaging taxes (Italy, Spain, UK, the rest of Europe)
  • The impact on Swiss businesses
  • Lessons learned from the UK: functional and operational challenges of implementation
  • Broader impacts of sustainability taxes on the operating model and ESG agenda
  • Practical actions which can be taken to prepare

We look forward to seeing you there!
