On 24th May 2023, the European Commission published proposals for an EU ‘Retail Investment Strategy’ (RIS) as part of its Capital Markets Union initiative.
A wide range of financial firms will be impacted by RIS, including insurance undertakings and intermediaries distributing insurance products (in particular insurance-based investments products (so-called “IBIPs”)) through proposed changes to, among others, the Insurance Distribution Directive (IDD).
