Το άρθρο 27 του Γενικού Κανονισμού της ΕΕ για την Προστασία Δεδομένων (GDPR) απαιτεί από οργανισμούς που δεν είναι εγκατεστημένοι στην Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση (ΕΕ) να ορίσουν αντιπρόσωπο στην ΕΕ εάν υπόκεινται στον GDPR.
Ορισμένα μέλη του Δικτύου EY εκτός ΕΕ ενδέχεται να αναλαμβάνουν δραστηριότητες επεξεργασίας στις οποίες εφαρμόζεται ο GDPR. Για τον λόγο αυτό, αυτές οι οντότητες έχουν ορίσει έναν εκπρόσωπο σύμφωνα με τον GDPR για να ενεργεί για λογαριασμό τους όποτε αναλαμβάνουν δραστηριότητες επεξεργασίας δεδομένων για τις οποίες εφαρμόζεται το άρθρο 3 παράγραφος 2 του GDPR. Ο διορισμός αυτός δεν αποτελεί αναγνώριση ότι ο GDPR εφαρμόζεται σε οποιαδήποτε από τις δραστηριότητες επεξεργασίας τους.
