Established in 1993, with the ultimate purpose of keeping Malaysians fit and active and making sports affordable for all, Al-Ikhsan has today 170 outlets across Peninsular Malaysia. The business is also supported by an e-commerce platform and personalized shopper program. Today, with more than 30% market share and aiming to double up in three years’ time, Al-Ikhsan Sports is the # 1 sports retailer in Malaysia.

In 2016, the brand reached a significant milestone when Ekuiti Nasional Berhad (Ekuinas) acquired 35% of the company's equity, and the brand is now run by a professional senior management team. For the fiscal year (FY) 2022, the company’s earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) is anticipated to increase nine times and its sales is anticipated to double compared to FY 2016.

Over the past six years, Al-ikhsan Sports has signed licenses with iconic brands like Umbro, Liverpool Football Club and it plans to bring in more global sports brands.

The company plans to scale its national footprint, moving from a single concept to multiple scalable outlet concepts such as Al-Ikhsan Sports, Football Republic, Sports Warehouse and Sports Factory. In addition, the company has created its own brand, AL Sport, to offer Malaysian world class products at entry level prices.
